Social Links, a NY-based OSINT solutions company, launched its Darkside AI initiative on February 6, 2025. This collaborative project aims to combat the rise of AI in cybercrime, disinformation, and digital fraud. The company calls on businesses, researchers, policymakers, and experts to join the initiative and work together towards a safer digital future.
This launch comes as AI-driven threats are escalating rapidly. Projections show that generative AI-related fraud will surge from $12.3 billion in 2023 to $40 billion by 2027. Deepfake videos have also seen an alarming 550% increase between 2019 and 2023, exceeding 95,000 cases globally. The World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report 2024 highlights disinformation and misinformation as pressing, short-term global challenges.
